My Story

Hi, I’m Tammy Darling—also known as the Darling Coach. I’ve always been fascinated by the human psyche, which led me to earn a degree in Psychology and spend many years as a high school teacher. I’m also a wife and the proud mother of four incredible young adult sons. These roles—educator, mother, and lifelong learner—ultimately became the foundation for my own healing journey and the work I now do as a social and emotional coach.

For much of my life, I unknowingly measured my worth through achievement and performance. I was a classic perfectionist—driven, capable, and outwardly successful—but internally tied my value to “doing things right.” This belief system helped me excel as a child and young adult, but as life became more complex, it began to work against me.

When I became a mother, that perfectionism intensified. I felt pressure to do everything “right”—academics, sports, enrichment—believing that success (mine and my children’s) was proof of my worth. When my oldest son was diagnosed on the autism spectrum, my inner world collapsed. I blamed myself and carried the crushing belief that I must have failed somehow. I went into overdrive trying to fix what I thought I had broken, pouring myself into research, therapies, and interventions—exhausted, afraid, and never feeling like it was enough.

Years later, another son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a condition that requires constant vigilance and care. Once again, my nervous system interpreted this as danger and personal failure. My mind clung to the belief that if I had been a “better” mother, this wouldn’t have happened. When a third child later received a diagnosis, my system simply couldn’t hold any more. I was living in near-constant anxiety, hypervigilance, and fear—no longer feeling safe in my body or in life. I call this experience Motherhood PTSD—the moment when accumulated stress, trauma, and self-blame overwhelmed my nervous system.

That breaking point became my turning point.

In my search for true healing—not just coping strategies—I discovered transformational, social, and emotional coaching. Through my own coaching work and professional training, including certification through the Institute of Coaching Mastery, I learned how deeply our beliefs, emotions, and nervous systems shape our experience of life. I also realized that real healing happens when we address the root—not just the symptoms.

From this work, the T.H.R.I.V.E. Method was born—a holistic approach that integrates nervous-system regulation, emotional healing, belief transformation, and embodied self-trust. This method didn’t just change my life; it continues to change the lives of my clients by helping them move out of survival mode and into grounded, empowered wholeness.

As a high school teacher, I also witnessed firsthand the rising mental health challenges facing teens and young adults. I became deeply passionate about helping both adolescents and adults develop emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience—so unresolved childhood wounds don’t silently shape decades of adult life.

As a recovering perfectionist who has walked the path from anxiety and self-doubt to healing and empowerment, I don’t coach from theory alone—I coach from lived experience. I’m here to support you in reconnecting with your worth, restoring safety in your body, and removing the inner blocks that keep you from the life you desire.

Because being human is not easy—and none of us are meant to do it alone.

I would be honored to guide you on your path to healing!!
